Why the $30T Wealth Transfer Will Create More Losers Than Winners | PAt Duffy & Ettore Roseti | The Giving Block | Save The Children
The largest wealth transfer in history is a good thing for charities…isn’t it? In a world where hundreds of millions of donors are trading cryptocurrencies and taking in the world through TikTok, losing touch means losing donors. As $30T continues to flow from older donors to Millennials and beyond, the next decade will shake up the philanthropic sector. As wealth continues concentrating in the hands of digital natives, slow-moving nonprofits (and companies) are losing ground to modern organizations who provide better donor experiences.
Millennials crave personal connection, demand streamlined donation processes, champion grassroots initiatives, and, unlike previous generations, are said to be more attached to their values than to specific organizations. As an industry, despite the fact that we’ve been discussing the data on Millennial giving for over a decade, most nonprofits aren’t providing these modern donors with modern giving experiences and opportunities.
So, how can nonprofits successfully and realistically cater their fundraising strategies to generations with such starkly different values? How can nonprofits know what innovative methods will pay off, and what will just push existing, loyal donors away?
Join industry leaders Pat Duffy, Co-Founder of The Giving Block, and Ettore Rossetti, Head of Digital/Marketing/Fundraising Innovation & Partnerships at Save the Children, as they examine the delicate balance between tradition and innovation. Explore how nonprofits can leverage cutting-edge technology, innovative strategies, and personalized tactics to bridge the generational fundraising gap.
This session will uncover: The core values, preferences, and motivations driving millennial giving

Changemaker Chat: Human Rights Defenders Sara & Yusra Mardini | Hosted by Floyd Jones
No one better represents the “unthinkable” spirit than Sara and Yusra Mardini, both named last year in Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People in the World." As young women fleeing the Syrian civil war in 2015, the sisters swam for hours in the Mediterranean Sea to pull their overcrowded boat and fellow passengers to safety. Their harrowing experience as refugees led them to become global leaders for migrants’ rights—and for Yusra, to swim for the first-ever refugee team at the Olympics in 2016 and again in 2020. And in 2017, Yusra was appointed the youngest-ever UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador. While volunteering in search & rescue operations for migrants in Greece in 2018, Sara was arrested, jailed in pre-trial detention for months, and to this day faces 25 years imprisonment for her humanitarian work. Recently, Yusra has established her own charitable foundation, The Yusra Mardini Foundation, which supports young people and refugees through sports programs and humanitarian assistance. Floyd Jones, Givebutter’s Director of Community and Partnerships, will speak with Sara and Yusra about their incredible story, unwavering spirit, and vision for a better world in the face of unimaginable obstacles.

Why the $30T Wealth Transfer Will Create More Losers Than Winners
What about forms that ask for unnecessary information? Abandonment is high when forms frustrate users.
That’s money and attention lost. Why frustrate or offend users when it’s so easy to be inclusive?
Beyond the obvious fixes such as font size and color contrast, this session will cover 5 main areas in which your marketing can be more accessible, including:
- Images & photos
- Videos
- social media
- Inclusive language
- CTAs and forms

Why Great Stories Aren't Always Great for Your Marketing - Rain Bennett | Filmmaker/Author & Co-Founder, CaptureFully
You know you've got to tell stories to make your messages move your audiences to action, right? And you've probably seen lots of content about how to become a "master storyteller" in order to do that, right?
And it makes sense because you obviously want to tell great stories... right?? WRONG!!
You don't have time, energy, or resources to become Shakespeare on top of all the other work you have to do for your nonprofit. The good news is: you don't have to. So stop making it harder on yourself! You don't have to tell great stories to inspire your community to support you. You just have to tell good stories that are great FITS for your audience. That is much easier for an overworked and under-resourced person to accomplish. And this session will teach you just how to do it.
By the end of this session you will:
1. Learn how to listen to your audience to understand what they care about and what will move them to action.
2. Understand the simple storytelling approach you should take to all your content to connect with them.
3. Establish and execute a long-term strategy for consistent content creation that converts.

Right now is a critical planning period for social-change organizations. The end of year is filled with strategic planning for the upcoming year, including preparing annual reports and finishing the year with strong fundraising campaigns. It’s also time to review your goals for 2024 and imagine the possibilities of how you can increase donor engagement in the year ahead. But where do you start?
